Support 50 Sustainable Livelihoods in Our Handloom Weaving Village
Current Focus: Handloom Weaving in Divulapitiya
We are launching an ambitious new initiative to create 50 fully independent, self-sustaining livelihoods for women weavers in the village of Divulapitiya.
This is not a charity project. This is a movement for empowerment, where each livelihood becomes a seed for long-term independence.
Why This Village?
Divulapitiya is rich in handloom heritage but disconnected from today’s markets and design evolution. Since 2009, DFSD
has worked here to:
-
Revive dormant weaving practices
-
Train women in design thinking and innovation
-
Introduce new product development techniques
-
Connect craftswomen with buyers and ethical brands
Now, with your support, we can scale this work by equipping 50 women with everything they need to launch their own
micro-studios.
Each Livelihood Includes
-
Full training in weaving + product design
-
A home-based micro-studio
-
Yarn, materials, and production tools
-
A rolling reinvestment fund
-
Guaranteed access to markets and fair payment systems
